Local election boards across New York are officially tallying the ballots this morning following Tuesday’s high-stakes primary elections. In the Hudson Valley, trackers are checking highly competitive Democratic margins in the seventeenth congressional district to see who faces Republican incumbent Mike Lawler this November. Meanwhile, in Central New York, all eyes remain on Onondaga County to see if longtime Democratic Assemblyman Bill Magnarelli successfully defends his seat against a strong primary challenge from Maurice Brown.In judicial news, a Syracuse father has been sentenced to up to four years in state prison following the tragic narcotic overdose of his one-year-old daughter. A judge handed down the prison term to Kenneth Brown after he pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, admitting he left a toxic mixture of cocaine and fentanyl within reach of the toddler while he slept.In Madison County, the Cazenovia school board has voted unanimously to hire an outside law firm and launch formal administrative proceedings to remove its vice president, Travis Longo. The sudden ouster follows Longo’s arrest by state police on multiple counts of child endangerment involving sexually explicit digital messages. Longo continues to deny the allegations.Turning to corporate crime, state police in Kingston have arrested forty-two-year-old Andrew Wells, the treasurer of the Ulster County Sheriff's Employees Association. Investigators allege Wells used his union position to systematically embezzle nearly one-hundred-thousand dollars from the organization's business account for personal use over a three-year period. Wells has been suspended without pay.And finally, basketball fans are looking toward Barclays Center in Brooklyn tonight for the highly anticipated twenty-twenty-six NBA Draft.
