Sir Cliff expressed his excitement about the project, stating that he selected 12 of his favorite number one songs to pay tribute to the artists who originally recorded them.
Among the tracks featured on the album are covers of songs like "Sign Of The Times" by Harry Styles, "From Me To You" by The Beatles, "All I Have To Do Is Dream" by The Everly Brothers, and "My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison. Other classics like "Rock Around The Clock" by Bill Haley And His Comets, "Don't Give Up On Us" by David Soul, and "Oh, Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison will also be included.
The album, set to be released on November 27, will also offer a deluxe edition featuring 14 of Sir Cliff's own UK number one singles, including hits like "We Don't Talk Anymore," "The Young Ones," "Bachelor Boy," "Summer Holiday," and "Congratulations." The recording of the album took place in February, coinciding with the 67th anniversary of Sir Cliff's first number one single, "Living Doll," which he recorded with The Drifters in 1959.
To celebrate the album's release, Sir Cliff will host a special afternoon tea event in London the day after his 86th birthday, where fans who pre-order "Only Number Ones" will have the opportunity to participate. With a successful career spanning decades, Sir Cliff is the third best-selling artist in UK singles chart history, boasting 14 chart-topping tracks, seven number one albums, and three Brit Awards.
